minion craze in malaysia actually a good cause for some indirectly

While thousands have been making a mad rush to McDonald's in an attempt to collect the Despicable Me 2 Minion toys given away with Happy Meals, a group of volunteers has set out to do something for a good cause.
Many of these collectors throw away the food and drinks that come with the Happy Meal, intent on only picking up the Minions.

A group of youngsters from Creative Juice Kuala Lumpur were appalled by the sheer waste and decided to do something about it by collecting the discarded meal and donating it to the underprivileged.

At least some wise groups of volunteer took this opportunity of these kiasu/crazy  behaviour citizens into a good cause for others. I think this is a wonderful idea to resolve kiasu people wasting the food just buying the Happy Meal not for a meal, but for the toy comes with it. What has the world becoming? (really shake head!).

Views on E-Books

After knowing about E-books, I found it is easier and much convenient to read them everywhere than purchasing the hardcopy books and definitely cheaper price too. I dreaded that after finish reading them, it is pile with dust in the corner. It is definitely better choice as less clutter and cheaper. One thing like about E-book, you can read the book in the dark as you can adjust the lighting on the device to suit your eye sight.

However, I do still buy hardcopies books for my siblings' kids as they can feel and touch the book they are reading. It is a lot of fun to read this way for them. And some of my friends mentioned, they love to books smell when they read. So, there is always pros and cons as it is depend on each individual preference.

Do Business without accepting gifts

EPF employees barred from giving or accepting gifts

KUALA LUMPUR: Employees Provident Fund's (EPF) 5,200 employees nationwide have been barred from giving and accepting gifts from external parties in relation to official duties with immediate effect.
"The implementation of the 'No Gift Policy' will help to avoid conflict of interest and demonstrate EPF's commitment to provide equal treatment to all that we are in contact with for our business," said EPF Chief Executive Officer Datuk Shahril Ridza Ridzuan.
"External parties are discouraged from offering gifts of any kind to any EPF employee and vice-versa, not only during the festive period but at all times when dealing with the EPF," he added.

The EPF is among the first government agencies to implement the policy to uphold good corporate governance and in keeping with best business practices. - Bernama

As many companies has been implement this policy. This is a good start to prevent bribery in long term, and make people more confident in govt agencies in near future. However it is quite tricky to justify gifts given.

Abolished Japan Visa for Malaysia starting 1 July 2013

From 1st July 2013, the Government of Japan has decided to abolish the requirement of short-term visa for Malaysian Nationals who hold ordinary biometric passports with embedded microchip that is compliant with ICAO standards(issued since February 2010) who wish to enter Japan for short-term stay.

However, this visa exemption only apply to Malaysian Nationals holding ordinary biometric passport with embedded microchip that is compliant with ICAO standards. Malaysian Nationals who do not hold ordinary biometric passport with embedded microchip that is compliant with ICAO standards remain advised to obtain a visa to enter into Japan.
The visa exemption arrangement between Japan and Malaysia, which had been existed since before 1993, provides that Malaysian nationals who meet the relevant conditions could enter Japan without obtaining a visa for a period of not exceeding three consecutive months (short-term stay). However, in 1993, the Government of Japan after taking into consideration the situation at the time and in consultation with the Government of Malaysia, began to advise Malaysian nationals to obtain a visa in advance to enter Japan.

Child religion rights

Proposed amendment to Section 107(B) of the Administration of Islam (Federal Territories) Bill 2013 to allow just one parent to convert children to Islam. Among others, the Bill allows a person below the age of 18 to convert into Islam if one parent or guardian consents to the conversion.

This news is kind of worrying. Do minority has a say or right to say which religion they choose. Why shouldn't the other parent do not has equal rights/say to the child being?

As my parents are Christian and Taoist, there is no pressure from them on what I choose, so I choose neither one and pick the one I'm believe in. As long we do no harm or evil, we are raise the right way. Religion is just a fraction influence of our identity of who we are, not 100% who we are.

If one parent has the "rights to convert the child religion to Islam without fuss, but after the child has reached 18 years old and she/he decide to change it. Can he/she has the rights to change religion according to their believe without any fuss?

If both ways are easy to convert, then it is alright. But if you converted and unable to change to other religion, it is really no justice/fairness to the child.

Every child should have rights to themselves and should be treat as human being by every adult, including their own parents.

Respect every child in the world.
