Mentality of different kind of MP on rape victims in Malaysia situation as solution

KUALA LUMPUR: Rape victims can have an opportunity to lead a healthy and good life if they marry their rapists, Tasek Gelugor Member of Parliament Datuk Shabudin Yahya told the Dewan Rakyat today.

According to him, girls aged between nine to 12 years old are "physically and spiritually" ready for marriage.

“They reach puberty at the age of nine or 12 and at that time, the physical state of their body is already akin to those 18 years of age.

"For a wife who was raped, if she can marry (the rapist) she would not go through such a bleak future.

"At least she has someone who can become her husband. So, this will be a remedy to social problems," he said while debating the Child Sexual Offences Bill here today.

He said this when objecting an amendment to the bill which was proposed by DAP's Kulai MP Teo Nie Ching who wanted the bill to be amended to also spell out the invalidity of child marriages.

The proposed amendment was voted down and the bill was subsequently passed with no major changes.

In explaining further the reason for his opinion, Shabudin pointed out that it is also not fair to assume that a person who committed a sexual offence will continue being a bad person.

“Maybe he repents, or regrets. It is better to have people who regret rather than people who do not regret.

"So in this case, let us not put an assumption that the person will remain bad. (Marriage) can be an exit clause for this problem,” he said.

The former Syariah court judge was defending existing law which allows minors to be married off as long as their parents or guardians seek permission from the Syariah Courts.

I cannot believe such MP can suggest such thing! Are you for real? Have you been rape before? How can a child been raped and will be happy married to the rapist the rest of her life? Are you NUTS!! You suggesting force her to live in hell when she think someone who is adult will protect her and harming her further after been raped.

She is a minor, need to be love and learn to think to know what is right and wrong, learn to be strong woman with guidance.

Toll Fares for CAR starting on 15 Oct 2015

This is a drastic increase of toll fare imposed recently eventhough less manpower manning to toll as users need to have a touch 'n go card to use most of the tolls now. Now the cost living hiking up drastically, now the govt pushing more cost for the public to bear. 

PETALING JAYA: The Works Ministry has defended the toll hike, saying that the Government has already subsidised a large amount of toll so as to not burden the people.

In a statement, the ministry said the move was in line with the gradual increment of toll rates during the concession period.

It said the total compensation paid by the Government from 2008 to 2013 was RM1.1bil, and RM402.9mil for last year.

The ministry said the Government had also deferred the increase in eligible highways since 2008 in its efforts to reduce the people’s burden.

“The amount saved can be utilised to implement development projects that will have a multiplier effect on the economy,” it said.

The ministry said the money can be used to finance the resurfacing of existing roads, build more hospitals as well as schools.

It also defended the move by saying that the hikes were only for intra-city highways and not inter-city highways.

“The toll rate for buses will remain so as to encourage the use of public transport.

“This could potentially reduce traffic and road congestion,” the statement said

KUALA LUMPUR: The Malay Rulers want the Government to complete the investigation into the 1Malaysia Development Berhad controversy as soon as possible and take “the appropriate stern action” against all found to be implicated.

In a statement, their royal highnesses stressed that all concerned should extend “real and sincere” cooperation for the investigation to achieve its objectives.

“The findings of the investigation must be reported comprehensively and in a transparent manner so the people will be convinced of the sincerity of the Government which shall not at all conceal facts and the truth,” they said.

The statement was released by the Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, Datuk Seri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, after the pre-council meeting of the Conference of Rulers at Istana Negara yesterday.

The 239th meeting of the Conference of Rulers is scheduled for today and tomorrow.

The statement said: “The failure to give convincing clarifications and answers is feared to have resulted in a crisis of confidence.

“As a consequence, the people believe, whether basing on reality or perception, that this is among the causes for the plunge in the value of the Malaysian Ringgit, impacting the country’s financial market and economic climate negatively and at the same time adversely affecting the world’s view of Malaysia.”

According to the statement, the Malay Rulers were worried that if the issue was not wisely handled, and was allowed to drag on, it could jeopardise the country’s economy and the livelihood of the people.

“To ensure that the Government enjoys the people’s trust, that leaders are respected, that political stability is guaranteed and that the economy continues to grow, all leaders must constantly ensure that justice is meted out equitably and transparently based on the law,” they said.

For this, the statement said, enforcement agencies and regulatory institutions such as the police, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Bank Negara, Attorney-General’s Chambers and the Judiciary, as well as related government bodies, should be worthy of God’s trust and the people’s faith in transparency, credibility and integrity.

The Malay Rulers also wanted the leaders to give priority to factors of security, tranquillity, peace and harmony and place national and the people’s concerns above their personal interests.

“The Malay Rulers take seriously issues affecting race and religion and would like to remind leaders of political parties and non-governmental organisations not to sensationalise racial and religious issues to garner support,” the statement said.

Their royal highnesses said the long-prevailing inter-racial and inter-religious harmony and solidarity had been the main pillar for the stability of an independent, peaceful, progressive and prosperous Malaysia.

As such, they said, the harmony and solidarity of the people should be safeguarded at all times and never be sacrificed for shallow political aims. ­— Bernama

KUALA LUMPUR: The organisers of Bersih 4.0 can do whatever they like - shout and even go naked - if they hold their rally in a 'closed area,' said Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor.

But they will not be allowed to hold the rally "in public," he said. The Bersih 4.0 rally is planned for Aug 29 and 30.

"We don’t want them to come out in the open, if they want to do it (the rally), they can go to any stadium they want.

"You want to shout, you want to be naked you can do whatever you want," Tengku Adnan told reporters after officiating the Laman@Eco Sky park upgraded here on Thursday.

"We are not giving them permission to do it at Dataran Merdeka or Padang Merbok.

"They asked us for a place for their demonstration and the government has allowed them to tunjuk rasa (show their feelings) in a contained place, not a public place.

“You must always remember Malaysia is multi-racial, multicultural, multi-ethnic and multi-religion.

“What happens if someone crazy does something untoward; what would happen to this country? Do we want to take that risk?” he said.

Tengku Adnan added that Kuala Lumpur mayor Datuk Mohd Amin Nordin Abd Aziz had issued a statement on the Bersih 4.0 rally.

“So we will leave it to the police; we have already said no because the Dataran Merdeka has historic value, used for National Day and we are not going to allow them," he said.

City police have also not allowed the rally to go on now that Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) has not allowed the gathering to be held at Dataran Merdeka and Padang Merbok.

Sir, Are you sure it is not against the law to be naked in the public regardless even it is stadium as it is still public area? Confuse citizen. :P
