Self Check In - Economy class for MAS passengers

SEPANG: Malaysia Airlines (MAS) aims to make travelling ‘seamless’ by using self check-in for all economy class passengers flying out of Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) starting July 15. MAS airport services senior manager Mohd Mazlan Md Noor said that their aim is to make travelling quick and easy. “Passengers have three options, they can check-in through web or mobile at home, or they can come to the airport and check-in through the kiosk,” he said at a demonstration session at KLIA on Friday. Passengers only need to key in their booking reference number or their 13-digit e-ticket number to perform the self check-in which could be done up to 48 hours prior to their flight. Mazlan estimates the whole process of checking-in via the kiosk, dropping off your bag, and heading to the departure gate to be about five minutes.

Self-service is the way to go if you appreciate convenience and want to say goodbye to airport queues. When using the web check-in, what you need is e-ticket number, passenger name & flight details. Once logged in, select your seat and print your boarding card. You can check in up to 9 travellers. This option is available from 48 hours up to 90 minutes prior to departure. Online check-in is applicable to all flights except for flights from Airport Los Angeles, Xiamen, Brunei, Kunming as well as the following routes: Kuala Lumpur -Los Angeles and Taipei – Los Angeles.

allow to detain homeless person, serious?

Yesudas said the biggest issue with the DPA 1977 is that it allowed authorities to target people for being poor, criminalising them for their economic status.
Under the act, the authorities have the power to detain a homeless person and produce him orher in front of a magistrate before imprisoning them.
If the magistrate has reasons to believe that he or she is a destitute person, an order can be made to temporarily admit the person to a welfare home for one month, pending a report from the officer.
After which, if the magistrate is satisfied with the report, the order can be extended for a further period of three years.

Holy crap! Being poor or homeless in Malaysia is a big disadvantage with such act, may lead to imprison. Is this really against human right? Is this mean we need to CHEAT, STEAL, KILL and ROB as long as we are not poor and homeless right? You have a highest number civil servants compared to other countries yet, the best idea you had right now is to rid off homeless people from the city without solution to assist them with sincere heart. It is not a crime being poor nor homeless! jobs are in the city, where got money to pay transportation when they cannot even afford a meal?
Do hope govt willing to discuss with NGO to find solutions and assistance to people in need of help, don't simple make a decision without looking at the consequences. Let's have a win-win situation in both side!

Homeless in KL city

There was once I was in Pudu area while waiting for my bro-in law to finish his work at late evening, my partner and I decided to walk around Pudu Sentral and saw a long queue of people next to McDonald in Pudu area, at first I thought it was night market. When I reached there, I realise people are lining to get a proper meal from a charity organisation. The members of the charity organisation was motivated and caring as giving out a meal to homeless ones in organised manner.

I cannot even see the end of the line, just imagine how long is the queue of people eagerly waiting for a meal to full their stomach. At that moment, I feel shock on how many people with different race actually homeless and poor. I even saw some of them are old and skinny taxi driver yet unable to afford a proper meal. Some even feel ashamed that they are queuing up for a meal but no one will rather choose hunger than pride when out of desperation. I realised as the country is developing, there is a drawback as cost of living may not affordable to everyone even food and shelter. No one will choose to be homeless if they are given a choice.

Sometimes when I do see some homeless guy especially those who do not beg on the street, they are not drug addict but unwanted by their family or public. I do give a little of money occasionally and pray hope their lives will be better soon. Really sad to see these people in this situation.

After reading the news in The Star, I do understand more about homeless people feeling. The journalist really put effort to do this article is really appreciated as bringing more people aware what actually happening in our own city.

It is quite limited info about this link given to the public about Social Welfare Department (JKM) http://www.jkm.gov.my/# , which may help? Only in Bahasa Malaysia, no English given in the website.

But I do not think homeless people will afford to search net and get information to find help on their situation.

Most of the homeless ones are illiterate, do hope govt should do more effort to help these people truly to assist them.
